about

Crossover thrash/punkcore(ala SOD/CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER/THE ACCUSED/DRI/SLAUGHTER(CAN) featuring Stevo on bass/vocals(IMPETIGO)

Collection includes:
Sgt. Rock-(1987) My Friend Lost His Face (Demo)
Sgt. Rock-(1987) March 1987 Rehearsal
Sgt. Rock-(1987) April 1987 Rehearsal

**IMPRINTING ON CASSETTE has a mistake. Side A should read Sgt. Rock-(1987) My Friend Lost His Face (Demo) 1-15 Sgt. Rock- March 1987 Rehearsal 16-17 Sgt. Rock- April 1987 Rehearsal 18-29.

Stevo recalls the March 1987 Rehearsal recording:

"The first and only full-length rehearsal captured on tape after the demo recording (which was itself an 'entire set' rehearsal tape). By this time, SGT ROCK had added a couple of new songs (plus MISFITS and S.O.D. covers) and Stevo was doing all of the lead vocals as Jymi didn't want to sing anymore.

Recorded in Jymi's bedroom with about 10 of our friends hanging out and drinking (and sometimes, singing along). It sounds a lot like a party, and it pretty much was; therefore, the presence of "not really" cover songs appear (particularly towards the end of the session), due to the environment. Tracks 23 through 27 are examples of this; "Sgt. Rock Love Song" was something weird we just did improv on, never played it again."

Some of the participants were:

Members of Jymi's other band ILL NOIZE:
Jeff (Jymi's brother and IN drummer)
Geo (new IN vocalist)

Former Ill Noize members:
Jim Reed (who was kicked out of the band in late 1986)
Joey Rodent (who was the vocalist for my 84-85 punk band DEAD TRENDIES, and was the inspiration for "The Scabby Man")
